Finally!

Thanks to the support of a.o. Stichting Almere Kennisstad, Madisino Gurkha, ITSX and IGT, Sk1llz has found a location for our hackerspace. For at least the next two years, our financial existence is guaranteed. This is a big deal of course because it means we will be doing a lot of fun projects in the coming months!

Who are Sk1llz

Sk1llz is a hackerspcae founded by Jeroen van der Reijken, Frits Mosselman, Eric Schipper and Ralph Moonen, all reachable by email under {firstname}@sk1llz.nl. All other involved parties such as volunteers and participants can make themselves known on our wiki.

Friends of Sk1llz

The Sk1llz foundation is currently not self-providing, and does not have the financials to guarantee its existence for the years to come. We are predominantly depending on donations and sponsors. The following organizations have already shown that they are a friend of Sk1llz: We are still looking for sponsors! To guarantee our continuation on the longer terms, we are urgently looking for donations. Apart from a financial donation, we appreciate any form of sponsorship (hardware, tooling, etc)!

Activities Agenda

More activities will be anounced in the coming time. Our goal is to open the space to out participants at least every Tuesday and Thursday evenings, but hopefuly more often. F5 this page often for updates.

Location

Sk1llz has found a location in the former public library of Almere Stad, known as 'De Voetnoot'. The location is straight across the town hall, the new library, and right in the hart of the city center. Because we are so centrally located, we can easily be reached via public transport, bike, or car.

Sk1llz has rented three spacious, adjacent rooms. To enable us to provide in at least a technical area, a central area, and a room wherein for example presentations and workshops can be given, the location is currently thoroughly being restructured.

Got Sk1llz? Join here!

The Sk1llz Foundation is a hackerspace in the broadest meaning of the word. We provide creative minds with a knowledge sharing platform, help in setting up projects, and assistance in opening up previously closed doors, by teaming up with (local) government, universities, and commercial organizations. Apart from that we offer the space including facilities, to realize your ideas. Projects we are currently involved in include robotics, music, RFID and wearable computers - all ideas are welcome!

Registering

Sk1llz is a foundation, so we don't have members like a normal club or union. You can register as a participant at Sk1llz though. We don't know what this will cost yet but we will make sure its affordable for everyone. For this fee you will gain access to our facilities during our opening hours, and of course our community with its knowledge pool. We aim to open a few evenings per week and to grow our community we need participants of course!

For volunteers (especially those who can extend our opening hours ;-), students and all others who cant afford the fees we will make individual arrangements so that the monthly fees become affordable. If you are under 16 years of age and want to work on a project you will not have to pay anything (but do need explicit parental authorisation).
